The Pioneer Register of the Blue Mountains to 1920 was completed in time to be available for NSW & ACT Conference which the Society hosted at Blackheath in September 2004. It sold out almost immediately, requiring reprints. Many missed out on entering their ancestors, and so, by request, a second volume has been compiled.
People living or working in the Blue Mountains were eligible to be included, and for Volume 2 we extended the period to 1930. Pioneer registers are designed to enable researchers, and family members, to make contact with each other to share information. Many descendents of Blue Mountains early settlers have provided information if they missed out on entering their family in Volume 1 or if they joined the Blue Mountains community in the 1920s.
The present names of the areas are Blackheath, Blaxland, Bullaburra, Echo Point, Faulconbridge, Glenbrook, Hawkesbury Heights, Hazlebrook, Katoomba, Lapstone, Lawson, Leura, Linden, Medlow Bath, Megalong, Megalong Valley, Mount Irvine, Mount Wilson, Mount Victoria, Shipley, Springwood, Sun Valley, Valley Heights, Warrimoo, Wentworth Falls, Winmalee (formerly North Springwood), Yellow Rock, Yarramindi, and Yosemite.
If these two volumes are not available to search in your local family history centre, a BMFHS researcher will undertake a search of these volumes and at a cost of $2 per page will email a digital copy to you.
